My 1985 Mercury Capri

I got my first Mustang in 2007, it was a 4cyl 5spd that I paid $150 for. It was a fun little car that I always wanted to convert to a 5.0L, but never had the money.

Then in the spring of 2008, my dad in Winnipeg called and said

“Son how would you like the engine and transmission out of the Capri, we’re getting rid of the car.”

I was ecstatic I could now convert my Mustang like I wanted and would cost me shipping on a pallet. But then I had a light bulb moment. I called dad back and asked

“How’s the title on the car?”

“Well the title is clean.”

“Oh, what if I come get the whole car?”

“That sounds good son.”

In the summer of 2008, I flew out to Winnipeg from Victoria where my dad, brothers and I re-painted her to gloss black and is how she sits as of right now Nov 11 2019.

When I broght her back to BC she had Manitoba plates in moms name as on paper she owned the car. Well one day I got pulled over, and believe it or not the cops did not believe that I was middle aged Indian woman. They ended up having to call mom to verify that this Manitoba car was supposed to be in BC, and then the cop told me to get it transfered to my name so I did.

Throughout the years I did small things here and there when I had a few extra bucks and even though it really didn’t add to the performance at all made me feel good.

  • MSD Ignition
  • Hurst Line Lock
  • King Cobra clutch
  • Strut Tower brace
  • Clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster

I looked at the plates, and I’m pretty sure the last time she was on the road was back in 2012. Before I got her, she also sat for years and years which is such a shame. I’ve been saving to work on my car for a while and it’s finally time to start! My current plan is that this is going to be a 3-4 year build and this blog will detail (hopefully all) of the work that I am doing.
