Floor Repair

When I stripped the car I noticed that the floor was quite rusted in the drivers side footwell. So rusted I was able to put a screw driver right through it.

I plan on keeping this car for a long time, it’s already stripped, so now was the time to fix it. I started cutting out the floor in the trouble area, and soon found out that it was not only the floor that needed work but it was rotted right through to the outside of the rocker.

As I was cutting out the various pieces of rot, I was figuring out which piece needed to back in first for everything else to tie into.

I found that this piece main piece was the first one that I needed to replace, as the rocker as well as the floor pan attach to it.

After everything was cut out, I made a template for the piece, transfered the template over to a pice of metal and did a rough cut on it. After the rough cut I took a lot of time(not as much as I should have) trimming it to fit. Since I’m a pretty terrible welder, I wanted the gaps as small as possible to give myself the best chance possible of getting passable welds. It turned out alright.

From there I started making the piece that is coming down from the pedals that the floor pan wrapped over top of. Again rough cut and take time getting it to fit just right.
