Squaring up the k-member is a fairly simple process You find a spot in the rear to attach your plum bobs, make sure you can attach it to the same place on both sides. I used the inside of the upper control arm brackets. Passenger side shown.
Underneath the plumbob you put a piece of tape and put a dot directly under the point once it stops moving.
And then you pick a place in the front of the car to put the plum bobs. I do not currently have pictures, but I used the steering rack bolt holes in the kmember for the front mounting point.
After you have all 4 marks on the floor you take your tape measure and measure front to back on both sides. This checks to see that one wheel won’t be further ahead than the other.
My measurements were:
Driver front to back: 93 3/4
Passenger front to back: 93 5/8
And then you measure from the front to the opposite side rear. This checks that the k-member isn’t further to one side than the other.
My measurements were:
Driver front to passenger rear: 95 1/2"
Passenger front to driver rear: 95 3/8"
My k-member was out by 1/8" which I belive is well within acceptable tolerances, so I wasn’t going to mess with it any more.
